Melissa Foale

Melissa brings over 22 years of lived experience in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) as a Medical Technician, along with more than eight years in Occupational Rehabilitation as a Military Technical Specialist. Her connection to service runs deep—she is the daughter of a Police Officer, wife to an Emergency Services Firefighter and former ADF Firefighter, sister to a Veteran, and a proud mother.

In her professional work, Melissa supports both serving and ex-serving ADF members to identify medical, psychosocial, and vocational goals, developing tailored plans that promote wellness, independence, and personal growth. She empowers Veterans to re-engage with meaningful community-based activities, establish healthy routines, and build new social networks. Melissa also assists with pathways into training, financial support, education, and employment to help provide lasting purpose and direction.

Melissa is deeply committed to mental health and early intervention. She has participated in a wide range of programs through Open Arms and Mates4Mates, including Wellways Optimal Health, Sleeping Better, Understanding Anxiety, Stepping Out, Operation Life Assist, Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), Relaxation and Mindfulness, safeTALK, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and Group Emotional and Relationship Skills (GEARS). She is also a qualified Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

An active contributor to the veteran community, Melissa is a ‘mate’ at Mates4Mates, a member of RSL Tasmania (Lindisfarne sub-branch), and the Tasmanian representative for the Women Veterans Network Australia (WVNA).

Passionate about empowering others, Melissa continues to champion personal growth, mental health awareness, and connection to the right supports at the right time.
